A choice selection of print coverage this spring in Simply Abu Dhabi, Burgess magazine and Canary Wharf…
Hong Kong is a beautiful paradox; how can the land that never sleeps be the island of dreams? Oh, but it is, as I discovered last month.
Apart from requiring the stamina of a Himalayan Sherpa, experiencing Hong Kong in all its guises is a bucket list must. From relaxing in the world’s most frequented Four Seasons spa to slumming it on the Star Ferry, and from climbing myriad rooftop bars to imprint the picturesque skyline on your memory to dining night after night on exceptional gastronomy, there simply isn’t ever enough time to do everything that needs to be done in Hong Kong.
One adventure that surely cannot be missed, however, is a visit to the 250 outlying islands (perhaps not all in one go). It makes for a fantastic alternative to an island hopping superyacht charter trip – just take a look at my latest write up in Robb Report to get tips on how to do it right.
Have you ever seen something so incredible, you can’t quite believe your eyes? Where reality and fantasy become one, differentiated by a few infinitesimal details that may or may not be there? If the answer is yes, then you will already recognise the above, and if not, then feast your eyes on hyperrealist art, and let the disbelief begin.

“Barcelona is a fountain of courtesy, shelter of strangers, hospice to the poor, land of the valiant, avenger of the offended, reciprocator of firm friendship, a city unique in its location and beauty.”
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote, 1605
From friends and colleagues to superyachts of splendour, the MYBA Charter show 2018 – its 30th anniversary no less – was an event to remember. A raft of vessels rich in character and beauty, each possessing a wealth of hidden delights above and below the water line, occupied the waters of Barcelona’s Marina Port Vell last week. My trip may have been short, but my list of discoveries is long, from engine room splendour to the life of the aquatic. Barcelona, you beautiful host, I will be back.
She sure is a beauty. Issue 13 of FRASER, that is. if you haven’t sneaked a peak just yet, click here for some insight into the world of elite brokerage, ocean projects, and inspiring craftsmanship. It’s all there, encapsulated in one beautifully designed and passionately written publication. I’m proud to be editor of this.
Just a few of my recent features to appear in the latest issue of Simply Abu Dhabi magazine…
My feet have only just landed on British soil after an exceptional 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, and they’ve hit the ground running headlong into one of my exciting new book projects – Superyacht 25.
Launched at MYS, produced by The Superyacht Group, and supported by MB92 to celebrate their joint 25th anniversary, the luxury coffee table book will highlight the most iconic personalities in the industry, the most memorable superyachts, and the favourite anecdotes of those who have shared the past 25 years in the industry.

I simply adore the LEGO front cover of Northrop & Johnson’s spring issue of Navigator. It’s taking all of my adult self-restraint to not break open my children’s LEGO box and start building.
Such a simple, yet clever way of creating an eye-catching cover that gets its readers’ artistic juices flowing before they’ve even turned a page. Navigator, I applaud you.
Lovin’ the look of my two features this issue carries, as well…
The words have been written, the images collated, the proofs are approved and the presses are now rolling on volume 12, issue 1 2017 of SuperYacht Industry – the first issue with me as Editor. It’s always a proud moment.
Due to be delivered on 4 April, it’s the first of four editions out this year, so if you have any industry related news – yacht launches, milestone anniversaries, ground-breaking releases – be sure to drop me a line, and get it covered with SuperYacht Industry.
I was lucky enough to fly to Oss in Holland this month to see the unveiling of Heesen Yacht’s spectacular 50m Project Maia. With a stylish exterior by Clifford Denn, including “Fisker whiskers” of the aft fashion plates, a sumptuous, calming interior by Reymond Langton, and an enviable, spacious beach club to take in the sea breeze, Maia promises to be a super elegant superyacht for her future owner, and charter guests alike.
I also had the fair fortune while there of venturing round the rest of the shipyard, and found myself stood beneath the twin propellers of another of Heesen’s latest 50m builds. Believe me, standing underneath a giant of the seas is a very humbling experience!
