It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… So much to do, so little time. Take some of the stress out of the equation by following my interior decor and gift wrap write-ups, featured in the December issue of Canary Wharf magazine.
Cooler climes have arrived and winter is nearly here (in two days, to be precise). There’s nothing else for it. It’s time to jump aboard a yacht of your dreams and dive head first into life-affirming adventure. The 2018/19 issue of FRASER gives you a little taste of what to expect when you arrive…
Hong Kong is a beautiful paradox; how can the land that never sleeps be the island of dreams? Oh, but it is, as I discovered last month.
Apart from requiring the stamina of a Himalayan Sherpa, experiencing Hong Kong in all its guises is a bucket list must. From relaxing in the world’s most frequented Four Seasons spa to slumming it on the Star Ferry, and from climbing myriad rooftop bars to imprint the picturesque skyline on your memory to dining night after night on exceptional gastronomy, there simply isn’t ever enough time to do everything that needs to be done in Hong Kong.
One adventure that surely cannot be missed, however, is a visit to the 250 outlying islands (perhaps not all in one go). It makes for a fantastic alternative to an island hopping superyacht charter trip – just take a look at my latest write up in Robb Report to get tips on how to do it right.
Monaco Yacht Show 2018, what a whirlwind experience that was. From award-winning design to innovative propulsion, the myriad of advances within the yachting industry was proudly on display.
Being in the thick of it as a freelance writer and editor is a privileged place to be. Taking it all in from my unbiased perspective enables me to see the multi-faceted dimensions of the yachting industry as a whole, not to mention stepping aboard all manner of vessels represented by a global community of shipyards, brokerage houses, designers and suppliers.
This was my eighth Monaco Yacht Show – it never fails to impress. Taking a tender to work will always be my favourite mode of public transport too. And the added bonus of a Red Arrows fly by this year was the cherry on the cake for me.
It’s been a bountiful few weeks when it comes to my charter reporting for Robb Report.
From the latest and greatest served up by the world’s biggest brokerage houses to new start-up Ahoy Cub – a digital platform that makes chartering yachts more accessible. From old school to new age, there’s something for everyone, all neatly presented online.
Have you ever seen something so incredible, you can’t quite believe your eyes? Where reality and fantasy become one, differentiated by a few infinitesimal details that may or may not be there? If the answer is yes, then you will already recognise the above, and if not, then feast your eyes on hyperrealist art, and let the disbelief begin.

“Barcelona is a fountain of courtesy, shelter of strangers, hospice to the poor, land of the valiant, avenger of the offended, reciprocator of firm friendship, a city unique in its location and beauty.”
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote, 1605
From friends and colleagues to superyachts of splendour, the MYBA Charter show 2018 – its 30th anniversary no less – was an event to remember. A raft of vessels rich in character and beauty, each possessing a wealth of hidden delights above and below the water line, occupied the waters of Barcelona’s Marina Port Vell last week. My trip may have been short, but my list of discoveries is long, from engine room splendour to the life of the aquatic. Barcelona, you beautiful host, I will be back.
The new Fairline Yachts website, which showcases the Targa range, Squadron range and much anticipated F-Line, has gone live and looks stunning. Designed by digital agency Shotgun Front, and copy written by myself, the fluid, user-friendly website lets the yachts speak for themselves. It’s been a pleasure to be involved in this project.
